Dr. Simmons is a middle GA native and a graduate of Mount De Sales Academy. He attended Troy University in Alabama, majoring in Biochemistry. Dr. Simmons attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, graduating in 1996. He completed rotations at Clayton Eye Center in Morrow, GA and Omni Eye Services in Atlanta.
After graduating from Optometry school in 1996, Dr. Simmons moved back to Macon to practice. He has been in private practice since 1996, and along with his business partner, Dr. Monte Murphy, founded Primary Eyecare Associates in 2001. Dr Simmons is a member of the American Optometric Association, where he has served in several roles, most recently as president of GOA District 6. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry, as well as a Diplomate in the American Board of Optometry. In practice, Dr. Simmons’ emphasis is in primary care, pediatrics, ocular disease, and specialty contact lenses. He is board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease.
Personally, Dr. Simmons is married with 3 children. He is a member of Vineville United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family. He has been a volunteer coach in several youth sports since 2005.
Dr. Simmons currently see patients in both offices.
